        on  chinese  festival  they  went  to  a  parade  at  downtown

        she  posed  in  front  of  the  stores  named  “ross”

        she  dared  her  to  photo  bum  the  spectators

        but  the  girl  tried  and  failed

        even  though  her  friend  didn’t  get  straight  as

        even  though  her  friend  didn’t  know  all  the  words  that  she  knew

        but  she  was  a  better  poet

        her  poems  told  no  stories

        but  her  poems  were  waggish  and  convivial

        her  poems  made  mrs.  maiii  cry

        it  was  last  year’s  valentine  that  the  girl  departed

        but  upon  farewell  she  couldn’t  find  her  friend  in  the  crowd

        her  poems  once  blossomed

        but  they  soon  withered
